To make it so that Ubuntu will not prompt you to upgrade to a new release of Ubuntu, including LTS releases, do the following:

1. Open /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades in a text editor:
   1. sudo nano /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
2. Change the bottom line to “Prompt=never” as in the picture below.
